CaYPT gave me the opportunity to experience both the experimental and theoretical aspects of scientific research. One of the most beneficial parts of the competition is its ‘debating’ format. Putting myself into roles of the reporter and the opposer pushed me to think of problems from different view points.
Competing in the CaYPT and IYPT was probably the most valuable experience I had in high school. I learned how to derive my own theoretical models, design and run original experiments, and present my findings in a PhD-style peer defense.
