WHAT is DCGA?
• The STEM Fellowship’s Digital Citizenship Graduation Award (DCGA) recognizes the unique contributions made by the digital leaders and influencers of tomorrow who use technology not just as a tool but as a force for positive change.
• This award looks at the collective to determine what characterizes responsible digital citizenship. This way, the award can keep evolving with the ever-changing digital world.
• Recipients of this award will have mentorship and coaching opportunities through RBC Future Launch and full access to Linkedin Learning’s various tools.
FOCUS of the YEAR
This year, we invite high school and CÉGEP students to use technology and digital leadership to promote Canadian values, identity, and citizenship. Through their actions, students should demonstrate inclusivity, democracy, respect, and civic responsibility in their communities—whether in their schools, cities, provinces, online spaces, or across Canada’s diverse digital and real-world landscapes.
WHY?
The DCGA recognizes students who have demonstrated responsibility, innovation, and creativity in the digital world throughout their secondary school years. These students go beyond academics as they succeed at learning about 21st-century tools through their classes or by themselves. Their projects or contributions demonstrate leadership in their school or their community at large.
WHO and WHERE?
All graduating Canadian high school students and CÉGEP students are eligible. Each school may nominate up to two students for the DCGA.
WHEN?
Hand out the DCGA at the graduation ceremony.
HOW?
Start by registering your school for DCGA accreditation; see the button below. Following the registration, establish a committee at your school to determine the criteria for this award. At the most basic level, criteria should measure the positive digital footprint and influence created by the award candidates. Schools can decide to engage in partnerships with the various members of the school community to deliberate on the potential nominees.
